North Carolina update – 4 performances in 36 hours!

Hey friends – big thanks to everyone who made my trip to North Carolina possible. Here’s a breakdown of the week:

– Friday night was pretty amazing. Played for about 140 women at Southern Correctional in Troy, NC. The gymnasium was pretty loud and the gals were incredibly engaged from the get go. Lots of tears shed and I had an opportunity to personally meet many of the women that night. My new friend Manda joined me (from Grace Church in Raleigh) – she did a fantastic job and knew my songs like they were old hat!

– Saturday morning I drove to Catawba County to play for the men at the Correctional facility there. It was straight out of “Cool Hand Luke”! The chaplain there, Rev. Reggie Longcrier has keys to the whole place and is doing a great work! We played on the basketball court for about 60-70 guys and the response was amazing. A large group gathered afterwards to talk and ask questions. Made some new friends I hope to see again soon. My buddy Joey, also from Grace Church, joined me on bass and was a great addition.

– Saturday night we all drove back to Raleigh and played the Kennedy Theater at Frank Thompson Hall on the campus at NCSU. You can see some photos/videos below from that night. What an incredible venue. Very intimate performance that was well received in every way. That’s my new home in Raleigh for sure. The folks at Grace treated me to dinner afterwards and we had a wonderful time getting to know each other.

– Sunday morning I joined Grace Church for their service and was so blessed by the folks there. Amazing people. They even bought me lunch before I flew home!
